Dicamba & Paraquat Use Require Additional Applicator Training

Dicamba Training

Soybean producers who plan to apply Xtendimax, FeXapan, Engenia, or Tavium are required to complete training on use of dicamba. Several companies are offering both in-person and online trainings.

Paraquat Training

Producers who plan to apply herbicides containing paraquat must complete an online training. Information and training: www.epa.gov/pesticide-worker-safety/paraquat-dichloride-training-certified-applicators

Cattle Producer Inducted into KCA Hall of Fame

Oldham County cattle producer Jon Bednarski was inducted into the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association Hall of Fame at the annual convention in Owensboro in January. This honor is bestowed on producers who have contributed to the beef industry at county, state, and national levels.

Oldham County Ag Connection on March 19

The next meeting of the Oldham County Ag Connection is Thursday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Extension office. Following dinner, guest speaker John Johnson, USDA Rural Development, will speak about federal funding opportunities and local projects with ag connections. John will also tell us a little about his days living and farming in Oldham County when Blakemore Lane was a one-lane gravel road!

Backyard Streams on April 4

Join us at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, for Backyard Streams. This year’s program includes classroom learning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., then travel to a nearby site for a hands-on planting demonstration from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Learn how to care for streams on your property, plus how to plant native flowers, grasses, and live stakes. Free plants and seeds will be available for participants to take home.
