Cereal Rye in Oldham County
University of Kentucky Extension is working with several producers across Kentucky to evaluate cereal rye production. Oldham County is hosting three of these field trials, including this one at Rootbound Farm. These trials help UK Extension agronomists and growers evaluate varieties, seeding rates, fertilizer needed, and any pest control needed.
Data collected from these field trials will shed more insight on production techniques for successful rye crops here. Much of the rye grown in Kentucky now is being sold to distilleries. Get grain crops information and news at www.kygrains.info.
